The second day of the Partner Exchange Workshop began with a presentation on Cuba’s Protected Areas System, addressing the main characteristics, strengths, and challenges of managing the country’s protected areas and their role in biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation.
Subsequently, Prenor Coudo, representative of Haiti’s National Agency for Protected Areas, explained the functioning of their National System of Protected Areas, allowing for a valuable exchange of experiences between both countries and the identification of cooperation opportunities for the sustainable management of the Caribbean Biological Corridor ecosystems.
During the morning session, the lecture “Conservation Planning: theoretical foundations and case studies” was also held, presenting conceptual and methodological tools for environmental planning and decision-making oriented toward biodiversity conservation.
In the afternoon, participants learned about the results of the PADF project in Haiti and the progress in meeting the Ecoadap project indicators.
The day concluded with a presentation on capacities for cooperation in Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) and conservation with Cuba, highlighting the importance of regional collaboration, knowledge exchange, and the building of strategic alliances to drive conservation and climate change adaptation initiatives in the Caribbean.
This second day consolidated spaces for learning and exchange among participants, strengthening integration between ECOADAP project partners and generating new opportunities for cooperation and the development of joint actions in favor of biodiversity and community resilience.
